Your partner logs the 3 a.m. feed and you see it by morning. The nanny ticks off the afternoon nap and you both see it. Only the people you invite can read any of it.

How sharing works

Choose who, and for which child
Pick the children you want to share and set a role for each one. Your partner can be a parent for both kids while a babysitter is a caregiver for one of them.

Plumi uploads that history, encrypted
Before the link exists, the app encrypts the whole history for those children and uploads it. This happens once, and the invite is only created after everything has arrived.

Send the link, or show the QR code
Send it however you like, or let them scan the code straight from your screen. Each link works once and expires after 3 days.

They open it and the history lands
They pick a name, tap Join, and wait behind a progress bar while the family's history arrives. After that, new entries show up on both phones by themselves.
Parent, or caregiver?
You choose per child, so the same person can be a parent for one and a caregiver for another.

Worth being clear about one thing: a caregiver can read everything for the children you share with them. The limits above are about what they can change, and they are enforced by the app rather than by our servers, which cannot read your data in the first place. Share a child with someone you trust with that child’s information.
How to invite someone
- Open Settings from the top bar on the Today screen.
- Tap Sharing, then Share with partner.
- Type the name you want them to see you as.
- Turn on each child you want to share, and pick Parent or Caregiver for each.
- Tap Create invite link and keep Plumi open while the history uploads. This only happens the first time.
- Share the link, or let them scan the QR code from your screen.
On their side: opening the link takes them straight into Plumi, where they pick a name and tap Join. If the link opens in a browser instead, they can copy it and use Paste invite link on the Sharing screen. Copy the whole link, all the way to the end, or it won’t open.
Only your family can read it
Your entries are encrypted on your phone with a key that belongs to one child, and only then uploaded. The people you invite get that key inside the invite link. We never do.
So we cannot read a single feed, photo, note or name, and neither can anyone you haven’t invited.
Your keys live in your device Keychain and sync across your own Apple devices through iCloud Keychain, which is itself end-to-end encrypted.
Questions about sharing
Who can I share with?
Anyone who helps with your child: a partner, a grandparent, a nanny or a daycare worker. Up to 5 people per child, each with their own role. They need Plumi on an iPhone and a free account, nothing else.
What is the difference between a parent and a caregiver?
Both can see everything for the children you share with them, and both can log feeds, sleep, diapers, timers and daily routine items. A parent can also edit the baby profile, manage the routine and shopping lists, set reminders and export data. A caregiver cannot do those things. Only the person who set up sharing can invite or remove people.
Can I share one child but not another?
Yes, and this one is worth explaining. Each child has their own encryption key, and an invite only carries the keys for the children you picked. A child you did not share contributes no key and no data to that person, so there is nothing for their phone to decrypt. They are not hidden by a setting, they are invisible by design.
Does the person I invite need to pay for Plumi Pro?
No. Sharing stays active as long as at least one person in the family has Plumi Pro, so one subscription covers everybody you invite. They can use the app for free and still see the full shared history.
Is it really end to end encrypted?
Yes. Every entry is encrypted on your phone before it is uploaded, and the keys never reach our servers. They live in your device Keychain and travel between your own Apple devices through iCloud Keychain. Our relay only stores data it cannot read.
How does the invite link work?
The link carries the encryption keys for the children you chose. It works once and expires after 3 days. Because the keys are in the link, send it somewhere you trust, the same way you would treat a password. If you send it to the wrong person, you can stop sharing and start again.
How quickly do changes show up on the other phone?
Usually within a few seconds. When the app is open it also checks every 30 seconds, so at worst there is about half a minute of lag. It is not a live shared screen, and it does not need to be: both of you can log at the same time, offline if you like, and everything reconciles when the phones reconnect.
What happens to what I already logged when I join a family?
A local backup is saved first, always. Then children you were tracking on your own, that nobody shares with you, are replaced by the family’s history, because two separate histories for one child cannot be sensibly merged. Families you already share are untouched.
Can a nanny work for two families at once?
Yes. Someone can be part of more than one family, keep the two sets of children completely separate, and leave one without touching the other. Each family only ever sees its own children.
What happens when I remove someone?
They stop receiving anything new immediately, and the next time their app connects it deletes that child’s data from their phone, after saving them a backup of their own.
What if my subscription lapses?
Nothing is deleted. For 14 days everything keeps working normally. After that, new entries stop being uploaded while everyone can still read what is already there, and the app tells you sharing is paused. Renew, and it picks up where it left off.
